In America, millions of vehicles are sold yearly. And although some people are still into sedans, about 68% of the sales are SUVs as well as trucks. But which models dominate the market?
Here are the 10 best-selling models in the United States:
1. Ford F-Series
Although the sales back in 2018 was 1.4% higher than 2019, the Ford F-Series still manage to maintain its number one spot. In 2019, 896,926 units were sold, but this does not really guarantee its rank as other makers, particularly that of the RAM, are also making their way up.
2. RAM Pickup
In 2018, Chevrolet Silverado has the crown for the second best-selling vehicle in the US, but shortly after that, RAM (pickup) has gotten the title with 633,694 units sold. In fact, Ford is actually threatened by the unstoppable increase in RAM’s sales. I guess we will find out next year.
3. Chevrolet Silverado
Although this type is part of the top 3 best-selling vehicle brands, the company still can’t deny the drop in their sales year after year with about 2%. For 2019, 575,600 units were sold. This, however, does not cover the huge difference between the sales of Chevrolet Silverado and RAM Pickup.
4. Toyota RAV4
With 448,071 units that have left the sales centers, the Toyota RAV4 was able to reach the number 4 spot. As you can see, it is the first non-pickup vehicle that you can in this list, and that right there says something. The demand for SUV is continuously rising while that of the typical cars is decreasing.
5. Honda CR-V
With sales of 384,168 units in 2019, the popularity of the Honda CR-V is on the rise. In fact, the number has gone 1.3% higher than last year’s. But will it continue to rise as the need for SUV increases? Let us all stay tuned for the lineup in 2020.
6. Nissan Rogue
The combined sales for the Nissan Rogue and the Nissan Rogue Sport are 350,447. Although this brand is number 6 in this lineup, that doesn’t really help the whopping 15% drop in sales when compared to that of 2018. But as long as the need for SUV keeps on rising, there is still hope for the Rogue to make it up.
7. Chevrolet Equinox
Reaching a total of 346,048 units sold, the Chevrolet Equinox was able to increase its sales by 4 percent as of last year. Is it the features of this SUV type that are encouraging more and more people to patronize it, or is it the name “Chevrolet” that is doing the magic?
8. Toyota Camry
Sedans are now in a tight competition with pickup trucks as well as SUVs. 336,978 units of the Toyota Camry were sold in 2019, giving it the crown as the best-selling sedan in the United States for this particular year. Being one of the safest cars on the market, let’s see if the sales will go higher next year.
9. Honda Civic
325,650 Honda Civic units were sold in 2019, increasing the sales in 2018 a little bit (0.03%). It may not be that much, but it is still a positive result. Looking at the records, this make actually has a yearly increase in sales. I bet the manufacturers are hoping for a higher notch in 2020.
10. Toyota Corolla
The sales of Toyota Corolla units ended up at 304,850 units in 2019, which has given this particular brand a little bit of a gain. The question is, will it remain in this list once the lineup for 2020 has been rolled out? It must worrisome for the makers, knowing that there is a huge decline in the overall sales of sedans.
